Amazing, amazing, amazing!!! We LOVED our time with the Yachtsailing.gr group! - Visited in July
We just got home from a truly magical one week trip through the Saronic Islands on the Yachtsailing.gr group's Oceanis 54 Blackjack yacht. We visited and explored six spectacular islands and countless beautiful bays in seven days (highlights included Hydra, Aegina, Porto Heli, Mandrila port, and Ermioni). There were two families of four traveling together (the four kids were ages 9-13), so a total of eight people on the boat plus our skipper and we never once felt crowded. It is a great boat for traveling with that many people (4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a large main cabin, a huge deck to spread out on, plus the separate kipper's quarters including his own bathroom) - plenty of space for everyone! The yacht was beautiful and very comfortable and the air conditioning throughout the main cabin and bedrooms was great - we ran it every night!
Maria and Eugene were wonderful in answering all of our questions prior to our trip as well as once we got there. No question was too hard, nothing was overlooked, and we felt as if we were being taken care of by lifelong friends the entire time from pre-booking through to when we sadly left the pier to head home. Truly a very special group with exceptional customer service.
We can't finish this review without mentioning our skipper, George Maleas. He was FANTASTIC! Honestly, we loved every minute of our travels with him. He is an exceptional sailor/captain in terms of his abilities with the boat - he was always able to find us a berth at a harbor (even if it looked like there weren't any left) and he selected stunning sailing routes and beautiful harbors that were gorgeous to look at, fun to explore, and had the calmest waters for a particular day (three of the eight of us have issues with travel sickness yet we didn't have a minute of discomfort the entire time thanks to George's efforts). He went with us every night for dinner (part of having a skipper on board is that you take care of food for him/her for the trip). One of the huge benefits of that, with George anyway, is that he always knew where the best "off the beaten path" locally-owned restaurants were, each with a different specialty in terms of Greek foods (if sailing through the Saronic, you must ask him to take you to the restaurant owned by the man who also owns the butchery across the street - an outstanding variety of spectacular meat dishes here, as well as the seafood restaurant with the squid ink orzo pasta dish). We loved our time with George and would recommend him without reservation for anyone going on a sailing trip in Greece. He works exclusively with Yachtsailing.gr which is a testament to their customer care in terms of putting together a truly magnificent team for anyone who charters with them.
You can't go wrong if you charter with Maria and Eugene (and if you sail with George) so don't look any further! The hardest question will be which type of boat to select given their great pricing, large fleet, and variety of sailing routes. We will definitely be back as soon as we can. Thank you Yachtsailing.gr for making our sailing trip better than we ever imagined it could be!
Cheers and hugs from Amy & George (from Australia) and Noortje & Marc (from Holland) and the kids!
